A day to feel better

My plan for this blog is to record my journey to a healthier me. I currently weigh 300 pounds. I want to lose weight, but this journey is not just about a number on the scale. I need my body to be able to do everything I ask it to do. I'm tired of being tired all the time and maybe missing out what my girls want to be doing, or being too tired to concentrate on what the person I'm talking is saying.
My goals are to lose 10% of my body weight at a time, a very concrete goal. Less concrete are better sleep, more energy, better skin, less inches, and even better sex.
The first step I've taken to this end is to get a blood test to find the foods I'm sensitive to. I discovered that among other things, I'm sensitive to yeast. So, I stopped eating bread and other obviously yeasty things. I cannot express the difference it has made in my health. That will be it's own post on a later day.
The next step I'm taking, with the guidance and full participation of my doctor, is a "cleanse." The first phase is to avoid several food groups that most bring toxins into our bodies. No gluten, no dairy, no corn, no pork, no sugar and perhaps the toughest for me, no black tea. My choices for the next week include chicken breast, turkey, lean beef, and organic eggs. Vegetables (not corn), rice, nuts, and lots of water. There are a few other things on the permitted list, but I can't think of them right now. The reason for the cleanse is to remove toxins from my body. Our environment is full of toxins, scary-non-FDA-approved ones, and other more common ones, that in large amounts (and not so large) cause more subtle problems. To protect itself from these toxins, bodies wrap them in fat. We can't get rid of the fat unless we get rid of the toxins too. So, this is the next step I'm taking.
Come along with me and see how this goes. I'm excited to reach the goals I've set for myself with my health and to see how it is going to further enhance my life.
